The Smilodon Seal -- The original painting by Bruce Horsfall was prepared for the Princeton Geological Association in the 1920's and was used for the modern newsletter from 1934 to 1942. Rejuvenated in 1970 after 28 years, the modern Smilodon carries the same seal, but without the departmental name -- it having gone through several name changes.
