12:00 P.M.           Eastern Time - Departed Newark Airport 

3:00 P.M.             Atlantic Time - Arrived in Bermuda (one hour ahead of Eastern Time). 

4:00 P.M.             Orientation with Jane Burrows (Reservations Manager); received room assignments & keys

5:45 P.M.             Dinner – Free Evening

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30

FREE DAY

7:30 P.M.           Lecture by Sam in Hanson Hall – "Introduction to coral reef ecology"

After the presentation the rented snorkeling gear was distributed.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 31

9:00 A.M.         Met at dock – Brief instruction on safety and boating rules by Debbie.

10:00 A.M.       Snorkeling trip to Arches (rim reef) with Kristin.

12:00 P.M.        Lunch at the station

1:30 P.M.          Sam gave a more detailed presentation on the types of corals and explained the Transect lab.

2:00 P.M.          Transects of two types of reefs were completed; lagoon and terrace. (Hanson Hall)

6:00 P.M.          Dinner – Free Evening – Happy Halloween!

 

TUESDAY,  NOVEMBER 1

9:00 A.M.         Snorkeling and Sediment Collection trip to North Rock with JP.

12:00 P.M.        Lunch at the station 

1:30 P.M.          Sediments lab – Clark Lab. Sediments collected from North Rock and Ferry Reach

5:45 P.M.          Dinner – Free Evening

 

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2

9:00 A.M.         Plankton tow and water collection with Renee. Canceled due to inclement weather.

10:00 A.M.       Collected water and net tows from Ferry Reach instead.

12:00 P.M.        Lunch at the station

1:30 P.M.          Phytoplankton and zooplankton lab - Clark Lab

1:30 P.M.           Bacteria counting - Naess Lab with Rachel Parsons and Renee Raudonis

5:30 P.M.          Flow cytometry talk by Mike Lomas – Naess Lab

6:00 P.M.          Dinner

7:00 P.M.          Geology lecture with Tim Rogers – Hanson Hall

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3

9:00 A.M.         Visit to Weather Station led by Andrew Peters

10:30 A.M.       Visit to John Smith Beach

12:00 P.M.        Lunch at the station

1:30 P.M.          Offshore (Station S) water column profile / Excel lab – Clark Lab

4:00 P.M.          Free Evening

 

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4

9:00 A.M.         Geology tour with Tim Rogers. Visited Spittal Pond and Walsingham (snorkeled in cave)

12:00 P.M.        Lunch at the station

1:00 P.M.          Trip to Nonsuch Island. Tour guide: J.P. - snorkeled to the island from the RV Stommel.

6:00 P.M.          Dinner – Free Evening

10:00 A.M.       Hike to Whalebone Bay for Geology Tour (led by Danny) and snorkeling

2:00 P.M.          Leave BBSR for airport

4:00 P.M.          Atlantic Time – Depart Bermuda

5:15 P.M.          Eastern Time – Arrive at Newark Airport 

7:00 P.M.          Arrive at Princeton University
