• Congratulations to Nick Swanson-Hysell who just won a National Science Foundation East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute fellowship to support his summer field work in the Amadeus Basin of Central Australia and some new lab work with Pippa Halverson at the University of Adelaide.
• Congratulations to Catherine Rose who just won an ExxonMobil Student Science Award to support her field work in the Adelaide Rift of South Australia
• Congratulations to Nora Xu (Princeton '11) who just won a Princeton fellowship to join Catherine and Adam for field work in the Adelaide Rift this summer.
• In January 2008, Adam Maloof and David Fike completed a successful field season in the Paleozoic of the Moroccan Anti-Atlas. In particular, we found a new section with 2.5 km of continuous outcrop and 10+ ash units through the entirety of the Early Cambrian!
• The Mike Romalis Group is teaming up with the Earth History group to begin tests of the new atomic rock magnetometer on natural samples.
• Did Earth lose its balance 800 million years ago? Our Svalbard work made the news in September 2006. Now Nick Swanson-Hysell and Adam Maloof are starting to tell a related story in Australia.
