RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Paleomagnetism and chemostratigraphy of the Bitter Springs Formation, Amadeus Basin, Australia, Summer 2006-
    •   Testing the true polar hypothesis for the 800 Ma Bitter Springs Stage through physical, chemical
and magnetic stratigraphy for carbonates, siltstones and basalts of the Amadeus Basin.
Detrital zircon geochronology in the southernmost Andes, Tierra del Fuego, Winter 2005-Spring 2006
    •    Sampled clastic sediments from the marginal and foreland basin of the Fuegian Andes to better understand the development of the Fuegian Andes and the Patagonian orocline. Prepped the samples at the U. of South Carolina tectonics and sedimentation lab and analyzed the zircons using the LA-MC-ICP-MS at the U. of Arizona LaserChron center.
Magnetostratigraphy in a foreland basin sequence, Ebro Basin, Spain, Summer 2004-Winter 2005
    •    Senior thesis project using polarity reversals in Paleogene alluvial-fan deposits to constrain the timing of basin development and evaluate models of alluvial-fan stratigraphy.
KECK Geology Consortium Mongolia Expedition, Summer 2004
    •    Collaborated with Mongolian and American students and professors investigating the periglacial geomorphology of the Northern Mongolian Altai.
Paleomagnetism of the North Shore Volcanic Complex, Winter 2004
    •    Collected and analyzed gabbros and basalts from these Keweenawan aged rift rocks.
