Our analytical work centers around the analysis of the O2, N2, and Ar concentrations and isotope ratios of gas samples from air, seawater, and ice cores. For these analyses, we have 4 Finnigan MAT isotope ratio mass spectrometers configured for these analyses: two 252's, a Delta Plus XL with collectors for masses from 28-44 (measuring 3 masses simultaneously), and a Finnigan Delta Plus XP with similar collectors (but measuring 8 masses simultaneously).
We have sample preparation lines and inlet lines, most of which are automated, for the various analyses. Other lab facilities include 2 Pfeiffer Prisma quadropole mass spectrometers, equipment for continuous seagoing membrane inlet mass spectrometry, a gas chromatograph, air collectors for O2/N2 studies at remote sampling sites, a large inventory of glassware for collecting air samples and seawater samples, and a freezer for storing ice core samples.
